A character is both a tool resource and an embodied actor controlled by the game. Characters are often enemies, but also sometimes allies. They can also, depending on the game, become dolls either permanently or temporarily, and vice versa.
Though a character is a part of a game, it is not fully aware of the entire game (at least, not from the player’s perspective). It appears to play fair, make mistakes, follow choice-making heuristics and sometimes even has slightly different personality traits from other characters in the game.
Some characters have greater or lesser significance, depending on the game. Characters belong to one of four interchangeable types: Ally, Enemy, Denizen or Robot.
