For the first time ever I’m going to the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, which happens between March 5th and 9th. I’m really looking forward to it, and also want to make as much use of the time as possible to meet people, see the future and generally hang out. I’m currently planning my schedule for the trip, so I thought it would be good to put out a quick post to any readers attending the conference that might like to meet up and talk about games, their latest projects and etc.

One Year Down [Birthday]

What Games Are is a year old today, and it’s been a really great year. Hopefully the next one will continue in that vein. In honour of the day, I’ve pulled out a list of 60 posts which really start to tell the story of what this blog (and the book) is about. They are not necessarily the posts that gained the highest traffic or the most tweets, but I feel they are nonetheless important.

Under the Mask [Speaking]

I’ll be giving a keynote presentation at the Under the Mask academic game conference at the University of Bedfordshire this Friday, in association with BAFTA. My topic is the language of how we describe and think of games, and how language is the key to legitimising game makers as the artists they already are.
