PC game is a loose term to describe any game played on a home computer, usually meaning Windows PCs but also including Macs. An informal distinction exists between retail and indie PC games. Retail PC games are sold in stores, expensive to develop and considered premium purchases. Indie PC games are sold online-only, cheaper to develop (by a magnitude) and considered for small markets only.
PC gaming is often heralded to be doomed, whether because of new formats like the tablet computer, platforms like Facebook, new consoles or browser technologies like HTML5. However PC gamers are among the most passionate and loyal players out there and they (thus far) display very little interest in ditching their favourite platform.
